The Auckland property practice is co-headed by 2 Partners . The senior leadership team is supported by 2 Senior Associates , alongside a dedicated team of Solicitors and Registered Legal Executives . About the Role
Our client is recruiting for an experienced Senior Commercial Property Lawyer / Senior Associate to join their growing Auckland practice.
Working alongside the 2 Property Partners, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of complex matters and further grow your career across a broad, high-value property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities & Work Types
Commercial Property Transactions: Structuring and executing commercial, industrial, and retail acquisitions and divestments.
Leasing Portfolios: Drafting and negotiating complex commercial, industrial, and retail leases for major landlords, corporate tenants, and institutional investors.
Large-Scale Property Development: Advising on master-planned communities, unit titles, staged developments, and development agreements.
Property Finance: Assisting clients and lenders with property-backed financing structures.
Specialist & Niche Advisory:
• Overseas Investment Office (OIO) applications and consents for sensitive land.
• Carbon forestry and Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) compliance.
• Land access and property agreements for renewable energy projects. Client & Team Leadership: Managing client relationships directly, leading matters autonomously, and actively mentoring junior associates and solicitors.
What You Will Bring
• Experience: At least 6+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE) specialising in commercial property, or a strong combination of high-end property and general commercial law.
• Leadership & Mentorship: A genuine interest in developing, coaching, and supporting junior solicitors within the team.
• Business Development: Motivation to build your personal brand, expand your market profile, and contribute to business growth.
• Autonomy: The confidence and capability to take full ownership of files, complex transactions, and direct client relationships.
• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional self-awareness, communication skills, and a proven track record of building strong, trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues.
