Client-Side Project Manager - Data Centre

The Role You'll take ownership of construction delivery on behalf of the client, helping keep programme, quality and coordination aligned across the project team. Success will mean identifying issues early, maintaining progress and ensuring delivery remains consistent with project expectations. Working closely with consultants, head contractors and specialist engineering firms, you'll represent the client on site and contribute to decisions that affect the wider programme. You'll report to the Head of Construction and work with a professional team where communication, presentation and sound judgement matter. This is a step up for someone moving from a senior contract administration, project coordination or site engineering position into a client-side project management role. The Project and Pipeline The role is connected to major data-centre projects in Melbourne's west. It involves technically demanding, high-specification new-build works, giving you exposure to complex coordination, multiple stakeholders and the standards required in critical infrastructure. The programme offers the opportunity to build experience beyond a single package or workfront and develop a broader understanding of client-side delivery. Its scale and technical complexity should provide strong foundations for future progression in data-centre and other complex project environments. The Business You'll join a client-side project management and advisory firm supporting complex construction delivery. The business is creating this role in response to a client requirement and is strengthening its construction leadership with a newly appointed Head of Construction. Whilst the initial projects are within the complex data centre setting, they also deliver projects within: • Towers (apartments, commercial, student accomodation and BtR) • Health and hospitals • Fit-out and Refurb builds • They partner with clients on small ($5-$10M), medium and large scale ($1B +) builds For you, that means joining a professional team with direct exposure to senior construction leadership, meaningful project responsibility and potential to grow into new and challenging project types, as you develop in the client-side PM space. What You'll Bring • Around 3-7 years' experience gained with a head-contracting builder. Salary will be commensurate with experience. • New-build experience on data centres, hospitals or other complex and technically demanding projects. • A background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, construction or a closely related discipline, or significant exposure to building services packages, very suited • Experience as a Senior Contract Administrator, Project Coordinator, Site Engineer or Project Engineer ready to progress into client-side project management. • The ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, head contractors and specialist trades. • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills. • A polished, confident approach when representing the client. • The employer DOES SPONSOR candidates who have the ideal project experience, character, and stable work history The Honest Bits This is a hands-on role requiring site attendance three/four days each week, with one/two day in the Melbourne CBD office. The environment will be technically demanding and stakeholder-heavy, so it will suit someone who communicates clearly, stays composed under pressure and is comfortable taking ownership. Salary, Location and Practical Details • Location: Melbourne's west, with days each week in the Melbourne CBD office. • Work arrangement: On site four days per week and office-based one day. • Salary: $110,000-$150,000 package (dependent on experience). • Employment type: Permanent, full-time.
