Technical Project Manager - Data Modernization

Role : Technical Project Manager - EDW / Data Modernization Experience : 12+ Years Role : Technical Project Manager - Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Domain : Data & Analytics / Cloud Data Platform / EDW Modernization Key Technologies : Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Cloud Migration & Modernization Job Summary : We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Data Lakehouse, Cloud Migration, and Data Platform Modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate should have strong experience managing complex enterprise data projects with hands-on understanding of Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, data integration, cloud platforms, and modern lake house architectures. The role requires a combination of technical understanding, project/program management, stakeholder management, delivery governance, risk management, and team leadership. The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, data engineers, analysts, infrastructure/cloud teams, and application teams to successfully deliver large-scale data transformation programs. Key Responsibilities : 1. Project & Program Management : - Lead end-to-end delivery of EDW, Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse, Cloud Migration, and Data Modernization projects. - Own project planning, estimation, scheduling, resource planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery. - Define and manage project scope, milestones, dependencies, timelines, budget, risks, and deliverables. - Develop detailed project plans and track progress against agreed milestones. - Manage multiple workstreams involving data ingestion, data transformation, data migration, reporting, analytics, testing, and production deployment. - Identify project risks, issues, dependencies, and bottlenecks and drive appropriate mitigation plans. - Conduct regular project governance meetings, status reviews, steering committee meetings, and stakeholder communications. - Track project KPIs and provide clear status reporting to senior management and business stakeholders. - Ensure delivery within agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and governance standards. 2. EDW & Data Platform Delivery : - Manage implementation and modernization of Enterprise Data Warehouse platforms using Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and SQL Server. - Coordinate design and implementation of modern Data Warehouse and Lakehouse architectures. - Manage migration of legacy/on-premises data warehouse workloads to modern cloud-based data platforms. - Drive initiatives related to : EDW modernization, Cloud data migration, Data warehouse migration, Data Lakehouse implementation, Data integration and consolidation, ETL-to-ELT modernization, Reporting and analytics migration. - Coordinate source-to-target analysis, data mapping, ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, and validation activities. - Ensure migration strategies address data completeness, reconciliation, performance, security, scalability, and business continuity. 3. Technical Leadership & Coordination : - Work closely with Solution Architects, Data Architects, Data Engineers, DBAs, BI Developers, DevOps Engineers, Security Teams, and Business Analysts. - Facilitate technical discussions around architecture, integration, migration strategy, performance, scalability, security, and deployment. - Understand and challenge technical estimates, solution approaches, dependencies, and delivery plans. - Coordinate technical design reviews and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards. - Support architecture decisions related to : Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Data Warehouse, Data Lake / Lakehouse, ETL/ELT, Batch and incremental data processing, Cloud storage, Data pipelines, Reporting and analytics platforms. - Ensure effective collaboration between onshore/offshore and cross-functional technology teams. 4. Cloud Migration & Modernization : - Lead planning and execution of on-premises to cloud data platform migration programs. - Coordinate legacy system assessment and workload discovery. - Support migration planning including rehost, replatform, refactor, and modernization approaches, as applicable. - Establish migration waves based on business criticality, technical dependencies, data volumes, and implementation risk. - Manage migration activities including : Data transfer, Schema migration, ETL/ELT migration, Data validation, Performance testing, User acceptance testing, Cutover, Hypercare. - Coordinate cutover and rollback planning to minimize business disruption. 5. Stakeholder Management : - Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and senior leadership. - Translate business requirements into actionable technology delivery plans. - Manage stakeholder expectations around project timelines, scope, risks, dependencies, and delivery commitments. - Present project status, technical challenges, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership. - Drive timely decision-making and resolution of cross-team dependencies. - Build strong working relationships with customers, product owners, architects, engineering teams, and external partners. 6. Agile & Delivery Governance : - Manage projects using Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or Hybrid delivery methodologies depending on the engagement. - Drive sprint planning, backlog management, release planning, dependency management, and delivery tracking. - Work closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to ensure backlog readiness. - Track deliverables using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar project management platforms. - Maintain project governance artifacts including : Project plan, RAID log, RACI matrix, Dependency tracker, Decision log, Resource plan, Release plan, Status reports, Budget/effort tracking.
