Introduction Dymocks Retail is a nationally recognised multi-channel retail brand with over 40 locally owned and operated stores across Australia. The largest bookselling network in Australia, we pride ourselves on providing the best experience for our customers through our extensive range of books, gifts, and stationery. Description An exciting opportunity has now opened for a highly connected PR Manager to lead the development and delivery of Dymocks’ PR strategy. This is a part-time opportunity requiring availability four days per week, Monday to Thursday, with three days based in the Sydney office and one day working from home. This role will be responsible for creating meaningful earned media opportunities that build brand fame, strengthen Dymocks’ reputation and bring our campaigns, books, authors, people and experiences to life. The role will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You will be equally comfortable developing an annual PR strategy, pitching a story to a journalist, managing a major campaign launch and identifying an unexpected cultural opportunity for Dymocks to be part of. You will work closely with Brand, Marketing, Social, Commercial, Buying, Digital, Stores and senior leadership to ensure PR is integrated into the broader customer and communications strategy. PR Strategy & Planning • Develop and deliver the annual PR strategy, priorities and KPIs. • Create proactive PR initiatives aligned with brand and commercial objectives. Media & Reputation Management • Build strong media relationships and secure high-impact coverage. • Manage media enquiries, spokesperson opportunities, corporate communications and issues management. Brand, Books & Culture • Drive brand storytelling through books, authors, reading trends and cultural moments. • Partner with publishers and authors to create engaging, newsworthy stories. Campaigns, Events & Partnerships • Lead PR for major campaigns, events, launches and author appearances. • Develop partnerships, activations and creator opportunities that enhance brand relevance. Influencer & Content • Build relationships with creators and influencers to extend reach and engagement. • Develop compelling content, messaging and media materials that reflect the Dymocks brand. Measurement & Stakeholder Management • Track PR performance, reporting on coverage, sentiment and brand impact. • Collaborate across the business and manage agency, partner and budget relationships. Skills And Experiences About You You will be an experienced PR professional with a strong track record of delivering proactive, high-impact PR campaigns and building meaningful media relationships. This is a part-time opportunity requiring availability four days per week, Monday to Thursday, with three days based in the Sydney office and one day working from home. You will bring: • Significant experience in PR, communications, media relations or a related discipline. • Strong existing relationships across relevant Australian media. • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated PR strategies and campaigns. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • A strong news sense and an ability to identify a compelling story or angle. • The ability to turn commercial objectives into engaging consumer stories. • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. • Experience working across multiple projects and managing competing priorities. • Strong judgement, particularly when managing sensitive or reputational issues. • Experience managing agencies, budgets and external partners. • A genuine interest in books, culture, retail, entertainment and the Australian media landscape.
