Mechanical Fitter

About the Opportunity FMS Group is currently seeking experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitters to join our shutdown workforce across multiple mine sites in the Bowen Basin, QLD. We are looking for reliable tradespeople with a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork within heavy industrial and mining environments. These casual positions offer consistent shutdown work with a variety of roster options available. Successful applicants will become part of a skilled maintenance team supporting critical shutdown and project works across coal mining operations. Key Duties • Execute shutdown maintenance activities across fixed plant and mining equipment • Complete inspections, fault finding, repairs, and component change-outs safely and efficiently • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance in line with site requirements • Work collaboratively within maintenance crews to meet shutdown deadlines and operational targets • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and adherence to site safety procedures • Assist with project works and equipment upgrades as required • Experience working on conveyors, pumps, crushers, screens, draglines, shovels, or CHPP equipment highly regarded • Ongoing shutdown opportunities and immediate starts available for the right candidates About You • Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner or relevant mechanical trade qualification • Previous shutdown, mining, or heavy industry experience preferred • Strong commitment to safe work practices and team environments • Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and ongoing drug and alcohol screening • Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets highly regarded • Ability to work across a range of rosters and remote mine sites What We Offer • Consistent shutdown and project work opportunities • Competitive pay rates with weekly pay cycles • Salary packaging and novated leasing options available • Employee benefits platform through Flare HR • Referral bonus program • Recognition and reward programs for long-term service About Us Established in 2005 as CQ Field Mining Services, FMS Group has grown from a regional provider into a diversified, multi-division organisation delivering integrated solutions across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
