Job Description

A young, fast-growing consumer packaged goods brand is entering its next phase of expansion and is looking to appoint a Head of Marketing to lead the brand-building agenda. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to build rather than simply manage - shaping the brand's positioning, influencing the product portfolio, driving consumer demand, building the media engine and developing the marketing organisation as the business scales. The role will involve: 1. Building the Brand: Define what the brand should stand for and, more importantly, what it should mean to consumers. Translate this into a clear positioning, brand architecture, messaging hierarchy and creative direction. 2. Shaping Consumer Perception: Identify the interventions that can shift consumer beliefs and build distinctive, memorable brand associations across every consumer touchpoint. 3. Owning the Consumer Experience: Set the quality bar across packaging, ecommerce and marketplace content, website, UGC, social and advertising. 4. Building Winning Claims: Identify the product and brand claims that can drive consumer choice, work with relevant teams to substantiate them and bring them to life across pack, digital and communication. 5. Driving Portfolio Growth: Work closely with Consumer Insights, R&D and NPD to identify unmet consumer needs, strengthen existing products and identify opportunities to expand into new categories. 6. Leading Media Strategy: Own the digital media agenda across Meta, YouTube, OTT and emerging platforms - determining the role of each channel, investment allocation and the balance between brand building and performance. 7. Connecting Marketing to Commerce: Partner closely with D2C, Ecommerce and Quick Commerce teams to ensure that marketing translates into discovery, consideration, conversion and offtake. 8. Building the Marketing Organisation: Hire, lead and develop Brand Managers and build a high-performing marketing team with strong consumer thinking, commercial orientation and a bias for action. 9. Staying Ahead of the Market: Track consumer behaviour, category developments, competitive activity and media trends, and translate these into opportunities for the brand. The ideal candidate will bring: - 1. 12+ years of experience in brand management or marketing, ideally within FMCG or a fast-growing consumer business. - 2. A track record of owning a brand or category end-to-end, spanning positioning, packaging, content and media. - 3. Strong consumer and brand-building capabilities, with the ability to translate consumer insight into propositions, claims and communication. - 4. Hands-on experience planning and managing digital media across Meta, YouTube, OTT and emerging platforms at meaningful scale. - 5. Experience partnering with Consumer Insights, R&D and NPD teams to shape products and propositions. - 6. Exposure to D2C, Ecommerce and Quick Commerce and an understanding of how brand building connects to conversion and growth. - 7. Experience managing external partners including agencies, creators, influencers, designers and research partners. - 8. Proven ability to build and coach teams and raise the quality and capability of the marketing function. - 9. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate compelling brand stories. - 10. A strong bias towards action, with the ability to make decisions and create momentum in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
