Job Description

Salary: £35,000 - 35,000 per year Requirements: • We require experience in a data engineering role. • We ideally want practical experience or the ability to upskill in cloud services such as Azure, Databricks, and ESRI. • We require excellent proven proficiency in SQL and Python. • We ideally want familiarity with developing pipelines that support analysts who use RStudio, Power BI, and/or GIS. • We want experience or the ability to upskill in administering data services linked to the data lakehouse, such as GitHub and Power BI. • We require a solid understanding of data security and best practices. • We require excellent communication skills. • We require the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. • We want a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and problem-solving approach. • We want a can-do attitude and a passion for data. Responsibilities: • We will have you maintain and enhance our data pipelines and infrastructure. • We will have you ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of our federation-wide data service system and data lakehouse. • We will have you provide key insights and solutions to support decision-making across our organisation and federation. • We will have you respond to the needs of Wildlife Trusts and support delivery of our 2030 Strategy. • We will have you work collaboratively with various teams to develop data management solutions and products. • We will have you help identify new use cases and forecast data volumes. • We will have you ensure cost-effective service maintenance. • We will have you manage and optimise data pipelines and cloud services. • We will have you provide data-driven solutions to support business needs. • We will have you help ensure our data systems are secure, optimised, scalable, and cost-efficient. • We will have you support a strong community of practice within the federation of Wildlife Trusts. This is a maternity cover Data Engineer role until 30 April 2027, offered at up to £35,000 per annum for 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with part-time hours considered. The role is predominantly home-based with occasional UK travel, and office facilities are available Tuesday to Thursday at our Newark office for those within easy travelling distance. last updated 38 week of 2026
