Hiring the Position of Officer – Capital Projects Position: Officer – Capital Projects Union/Association: Administrative Services Group (ASG) Posting #: 4067715 Date Posted: September 17, 2026 Closing Date: September 24, 2026 Employment Status: Permanent, Full-Time (Existing Vacancy) Work Hours Schedule: 35 hours per week Location: Catholic Education Centre, Wallaceburg Annual Salary Range: $73,895.09 - $91,969.71 Start Date: Immediate If Interested Send resume quoting posting number in email through Apply To Education - https://sccdsb.simplication.com/ Summary The Officer – Capital Projects is responsible for assisting in the development of capital project specifications, tendering process, scheduling, monitoring, and changes of minor capital projects throughout the Board. This role is also responsible for administrative support for project documentation and tracking. Reporting/Responsibilities Reporting to the Coordinator – Capital Projects, the Officer – Capital Projects will assist the Coordinator – Capital Projects with project related duties for minor, simple projects, including the following: • Assist in developing specifications, scopes of work and quotation documents for renovation and construction projects. • Work with consultants in the development of project specifications, drawings, reports, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules. • Assist in gathering stakeholder input required for design consideration. • Assist with issuing tenders, addenda, CCDC contracts, and purchase orders. • Assist with obtaining building permits, site plan agreements and permits with local municipalities. • Monitor and report on project schedules and deliverables. • Assist with communication to school principals and other building occupants. • Organize, attend, and take minutes of project related meetings. • Enforce contractual responsibilities with consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers. • Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors. • Maintain job diaries, site photos and proper claims documentation. • Log, review and process all shop drawings, site instructions, and change notices. • Assist with change order process, including pricing, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact reviews and expedite progress payment certificates and final payment certificates. • Assist with project close-out, including archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work. • Maintain accurate and complete project files to assist with entering information into Ministry database. • Provide administrative support to the Coordinator – Capital Projects with the following tasks: • File project documentation throughout all stages of the project. • Update project accounting in eBASE Projects to ensure tracking represents accurate budget, contract and forecast values. • Update and track project status, contact information, tasks and notes in eBASE Projects. • Provide backup for the Administrative Assistant – Facility Services (Maintenance & Capital) for capital accounting and invoice processing. • Develop and maintain excellent relationship with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and board staff. • Participate in provincial networking opportunities and monitor provincial construction trends. Qualifications and Skills • Degree / Diploma in the related field of Architecture, Engineering or Project Management. • Possess or have ability to possess Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or Member of the Associate of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (MAATO) designation is preferred. • Possess or have ability to possess Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). • One (1) to three (3) years of Project Coordination related experience, or equivalent role is preferred. • Experience in an Educational setting is preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents. • Experience in use of Microsoft Office. • Ability to learn and operate Ministry and Board specific software applications. • Ability to be flexible and work accurately in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work very effectively both in a team environment and independently. • Must be the kind of individual that brings initiative, enthusiasm and high degree of professionalism to a very dynamic and changing environment. • Demonstrated initiative and effective coordination, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are preferred. • Experience in use of AutoCAD and PDF editing software is preferred. • Possess a valid Ontario Driver's license (G-class) and access to vehicle.
