Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £55,000 - 65,000 per year Requirements: • Three or more years as a full-stack engineer, with at least some of that time at a senior level. • Strong TypeScript experience across our stack, including pnpm and Turborepo, React 19 with TanStack Start, Router and Query, Tailwind CSS, Prisma and PostgreSQL (Supabase), Better-Auth and Stripe, deployed to Google Cloud Run via GitHub Actions with Terraform-managed infrastructure. • Comfort with AI-assisted development and experience using tools like Cursor or Claude in a day-to-day workflow. • A track record of shipping quality code quickly while balancing velocity with standards. • A pragmatic approach, making sensible trade-offs between perfect and good enough, and focusing on what matters most for the user. • Ownership and the ability to see work through without constant oversight. • Clear communication skills, including explaining technical decisions well, giving and receiving feedback, and working well with product and design. • Experience in edtech, learning platforms, student data, or educational workflows would help. • You must be based in the UK with the right to work here. Responsibilities: • Build and ship features across our learner and content platforms, taking work from spec through to production. • Use AI tools such as Cursor and Claude to accelerate work while validating that code quality, security, and performance meet our standards. • Follow and help uphold our engineering practices, contributing to code reviews and writing automated tests to avoid technical debt. • Work alongside our Lead Engineer and other Engineers, pairing when useful, sharing knowledge, and helping less experienced colleagues get unstuck. • Contribute to design and architecture discussions for new features, flagging trade-offs and suggesting pragmatic solutions. • Deliver significant features each sprint to a high standard without adding technical debt. • Write well-tested code, provide thoughtful reviews, and help catch bad patterns before they land. • Become a go-to person for other Engineers and take on complex work with confidence. • Contribute to technical decisions that make the codebase simpler or faster to work in. • Use AI tools effectively and reliably validate what they produce, helping the team do the same.
