Position Description: Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend Developer Position: Java Backend Developer Experience: 6-8 years Category: Software Development/ Engineering Shift: General Main location: India, Telangana, Hyderabad Position ID: J0726-2016 Employment Type: Full Time Job Overview: CGI is looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Agile/Scrum methodologies. The candidate will be responsible for developing scalable backend applications, building robust APIs, and contributing to modern cloud-native application development. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java/J2EE and Spring Boot. • Develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs based on business and technical requirements. • Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performing backend services. • Develop and maintain microservices-based applications using Spring Boot. • Build and manage deployment pipelines using CI/CD practices. • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot applications in Kubernetes environments. • Collaborate with architects, developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. • Troubleshoot application and production issues and perform root-cause analysis. • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding, security, and development best practices. • Contribute to application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability improvements. • Work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment and participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to APIs, application design, and deployment processes. Required Skills • Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE. • Strong experience in Spring Boot and Spring Framework. • Hands-on experience in RESTful API development and integration. • Good understanding of Microservices architecture. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for application deployment and management. • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Good communication and collaboration skills. Good to Have • Experience with Docker and containerization. • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms. • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka. • Knowledge of databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB. • Experience with JUnit/Mockito and automated testing. • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools. • Familiarity with Git and modern source-control practices.
