Head - Plant Operations - Packaging

Strictly Confidential: My client is a multi-location manufacturing enterprise in the packaging/converting sector. They operate a multi-plant network and are seeking a business-minded operational leader to run our manufacturing operations as profit centers. Role Summary: The VP Operations / Head of Plant Operations will own the plant network P&L, focusing on EBITDA margin improvement, capacity utilization, and conversion costs. This role requires a business operator rather than a hands-on technical engineer. You will establish a disciplined weekly operating rhythm, standardize performance metrics across all sites, and coordinate resources (OEM partners, internal specialists, sister plants) to maximize profitability. Key Responsibilities: P&L & Margin Ownership: - Drive group plant EBITDA margin improvement, control material yield/wastage, and lower unit conversion costs. Network Operating Rhythm: - Implement a standardized weekly review cadence across all plants using a unified scorecard. Resource Orchestration: - Diagnose plant-level operational/technical issues and route them effectively to internal specialists, OEM partners (e.g., Bobst, Heidelberg, KBA), or sister plants. Capacity & Cost Optimization: - Optimize plant capacity loading, oversee preventive maintenance schedules, and manage plant working capital (DIO, WIP, inventory). Leadership & Safety: - Oversee a workforce of ~1,700 across sites, maintaining high EHS and regulatory compliance standards. Requirements: - 18- 20 years in multi-site manufacturing operations (Packaging, Auto Components, FMCG, or Process Manufacturing). - P&L Accountability: Prior track record of managing a factory or business unit as an independent profit center. - Financial Fluency: Deep understanding of plant P&L, contribution margin, and working capital dynamics. - Education: B.E. / B.Tech (Engineering) with an MBA in Operations Management (preferred).
