The Role We are seeking a recent Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. As a Graduate at SMEC, you’ll be part of a high-impact talent group, contributing to the delivery of major rail and metro infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists. Our two-year Graduate Development Program (GDP) is designed to accelerate your growth — combining hands-on project experience with structured learning, mentoring, and exposure across teams and disciplines. What you can expect: • Real project exposure from day one across major rail and transport infrastructure projects • A connected ANZ graduate network and strong peer community • Mentoring from senior engineers and technical specialists • Structured development through workshops, online learning, and immersive experiences • Opportunities to build consulting skills including communication, collaboration, and problem-solving • Industry and global networking opportunities across the SJ Group • Ongoing development beyond the GDP, with support for further study Key responsibilities: You’ll support the delivery of real infrastructure projects from day one — contributing to design, analysis and documentation while learning from experienced engineers and gaining exposure to site and project delivery. • Contribute to the delivery of real projects by supporting design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation • Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across areas such as roads, drainage or structures under guidance from senior engineers • Participate in site visits and inspections to develop an understanding of how designs are implemented on live projects • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones • Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practice through structured development and on-the-job experience About You You’re a motivated Electrical Engineering graduate who enjoys problem-solving, working in teams, and contributing to real-world projects. You will bring: • A degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous) How To Apply To apply, click on the "Apply Now" link and follow the prompts.
