Sr. Software Engineer B2

**Job Summary** The Sr Software Engineer B2 will design develop and maintain robust backend services using Python SQL Spring Boot apache camel framework and microservices for retail banking applications.

The role focuses on building secure scalable and resilient systems that support day to day banking operations while working full time from office in a collaborative agile environment.

**Responsibilities** + Design and implement scalable microservice based backend components using Spring Boot and Spring Framework to support core retail banking functionalities + Develop efficient Python services and utilities that automate complex retail banking workflows and improve overall system throughput and reliability + Create optimize and maintain complex SQL queries stored procedures and data access layers that ensure accurate and performant processing of retail banking transactions + Integrate microservices with relational databases and internal banking platforms while ensuring data consistency auditability and adherence to industry regulations + Collaborate with product owners architects and fellow engineers to translate retail banking business requirements into clear technical solutions and implementation plans + Implement secure coding practices for authentication authorization and data protection tailored for retail banking use cases and regulatory standards + Perform thorough unit testing integration testing and regression testing to ensure high quality delivery of new features and enhancements for banking customers + Identify performance bottlenecks across microservices and database layers and apply tuning techniques to improve response times and system stability + Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to maintain clean coding standards reusable components and consistent design patterns across services + Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation for APIs data models and service interactions so that teams across the bank can easily integrate and support solutions + Collaborate with site reliability and operations teams to support deployment pipelines configuration management and monitoring for day to day banking workloads + Troubleshoot production incidents in collaboration with support teams perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes that prevent recurrence and protect customer trust + Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements in tooling development practices and architecture that align with the long term vision of the retail banking platform **Qualifications** + Possess professional experience of six to ten years in backend software engineering with strong hands on development using Spring Boot and Spring Framework in enterprise environments + Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Python for building services automation scripts and data processing components that integrate into complex banking ecosystems + Exhibit strong command of SQL including query optimization indexing strategies and transaction management for high volume financial data stores + Bring proven experience in designing developing and deploying microservices that handle critical banking operations with focus on scalability and fault tolerance + Show solid exposure to retail banking domain processes such as accounts payments loans and customer servicing and apply this knowledge while designing technical solutions + Display practical experience with agile delivery practices including backlog refinement sprint planning and frequent production releases in a regulated industry context + Apply sound understanding of secure software development practices including input validation encryption usage and access control models suitable for banking platforms + Demonstrate familiarity with version control systems build tools and continuous integration pipelines to ensure consistent and reliable software delivery from office based teams + Communicate effectively with cross functional stakeholders including business analysts testers and operations personnel to ensure shared understanding of goals and outcomes + Show ability to analyze complex issues break them down into manageable tasks and deliver maintainable solutions that improve customer experience in retail banking + Maintain openness to learning new frameworks tools and domain concepts as the banking landscape evolves contributing to innovation that benefits the organization and society Cognizant is an equal opportunity employer.
