Principal Java Engineer

Salary: £69,000 - 109,000 per year Requirements: • Strong commercial Java development experience • Good experience designing and building solutions in AWS • Full-stack development experience using JavaScript, React and TypeScript • Previous experience leading engineers or providing technical direction • An understanding of software architecture and technical design • Experience working throughout the full software development lifecycle • Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills • The ability to understand customer challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions • Ability to obtain high-level UK security clearance • British citizenship • Permanent residence in the UK for the last five years • Strong commercial experience in software engineering and modern application development • Experience building scalable applications, APIs, and distributed systems • Experience working with cloud platforms and modern software delivery practices • Good understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and Infrastructure as Code Responsibilities: • Leading and supporting a team of software engineers • Designing, developing and testing bespoke software solutions • Providing technical direction and communicating clearly with clients • Producing solution architectures and technical designs • Building full-stack applications using Java, JavaScript, React and TypeScript • Designing and deploying cloud-based solutions, primarily using AWS • Creating continuous integration pipelines using tools such as GitLab • Working across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to delivery, support and maintenance • Deploying software into public and private cloud environments • Promoting high standards of software quality, security and engineering practice Technologies: • AWS • CI/CD • Cloud • DevOps • GitLab • Support • Java • JavaScript • React • Security • TypeScript More: We are a leading specialist technical consultancy working on a live Central Government project.
