Electronics Engineer - HDL

What You’ll Accomplish: • Drive the HDL (Hardware Description Language) system design and realisation. • Write the documentation of your circuits and verification tests. • Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas. • Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, working towards a common goal. • Play a key role in building control systems for quantum computers. • Maintain UQs’ position of using state of the art electronics solutions. • Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues. • Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements. • Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions. • Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers. Requirements The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates • Excellent knowledge of designing, developing, and testing digital logic circuits and systems using hardware description language (HDL) tools. • Good knowledge of electronics circuit theory, including programming and architecture design skills. • Familiarity with PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment. Must-have Skills: • Minimum 8 years’ experience in high performance Electronics Design including Digital, Analog and Embedded. • Experience in HDL design and verification using Verilog, VHDL or System Verilog. • Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, and VNA. • Experience of FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real time systems. • Experience of working with suppliers and contractors. • Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player. • At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline. Nice-to-have Skills: • A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology, and instrumentation. • Understanding of signal integrity, high speed digital, and EMC. • Experience of C and/or scripting languages e.g. Python and MATLAB. • Experience of LabVIEW. • Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices. • Team and/or project management experience.
