We work closely with teams across the business to provide budgeting, reporting and financial advice that supports the delivery of services and strategic priorities. The Role As the Senior Asset Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality asset accounting, financial reporting and advisory services across Council. Working closely with stakeholders throughout the organisation, you will provide specialist expertise on asset accounting matters, ensure compliance with accounting standards and Council policies, and support the delivery of accurate and timely financial information. You will contribute to strategic financial initiatives, identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls, and provide expert advice that supports effective decision-making and sound asset management practices. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys solving complex financial challenges, influencing outcomes and building strong partnerships across a large and diverse organisation. To be successful you will have: • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related discipline • Significant experience in financial analysis, financial reporting and asset accounting within a complex organisation • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, investigate and resolve financial discrepancies • Sound knowledge of accounting standards, governance, risk management and compliance requirements • Experience using SAP or other enterprise financial management systems • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical financial advice • The ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively across finance teams and business groups • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within required timeframes • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, process enhancement and delivering high-quality financial outcomes • CPA or CA qualification (completed or in progress) and/or experience in public sector financial management will be highly regarded.
