Construction Manager

The opportunity • Downer is seeking an experienced Construction Manager, Substations & BESS to lead the planning, execution and completion of complex high-voltage construction activities across Western Australia. • Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring construction is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will lead Construction Supervisors, site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers while championing a strong Zero Harm culture across every stage of delivery. • You will also play an important role in supporting tenders, constructability reviews, resource planning, commissioning, energisation and successful project handover. What you'll do • Lead the safe delivery of HV substation and BESS construction activities, including work on or near energised electrical networks. • Manage construction schedules, costs, resources, subcontractors, quality requirements and project risks. • Lead Construction Supervisors and multidisciplinary field teams, building workforce capability and maintaining strong project performance. • Support testing, commissioning, outages, energisation and project handover in accordance with Network Service Provider requirements. • Contribute to tenders through constructability reviews, construction methodologies, resource estimates, risk assessments and subcontractor scoping What we offer • Competitive remuneration with a significant ASX-listed company. • Structured career pathways across Downer's Utilities business. • Opportunities to contribute to major energy infrastructure projects across Western Australia. • A suite of health and wellness benefits and initiatives, including EAP and Beyond Blue. • Retail discounts with major brands including Dell, The Good Guys, Samsung, Specsavers and ANZ What we're looking for • An Electrical Trade Certificate or relevant Engineering or Construction Management qualification • A minimum of 10 years' experience delivering HV substation, BESS, transmission or utility infrastructure projects. • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary construction teams on projects exceeding $10 million within an EPC, D&C, utilities or major contractor environment. • Strong knowledge of HV construction, WHS, quality, environmental management, subcontractor management, project controls and relevant Australian Standards. • Proven leadership, communication, stakeholder management, planning and problem-solving capability, with a strong commitment to safe project delivery. • Experience with HV switching, Network Service Provider requirements, Primavera P6 or MS Project, Earned Value management, commissioning and energisation programs will be highly regarded About Energy & Utilities Downer's Energy & Utilities business unit is an integrated trans-Tasman team, providing services and solutions that connect communities to essential networks and infrastructure.
