Senior Software Engineer (Python & Distributed Systems)

Salary: £60,000 - 85,000 per year Requirements: • 8 years of professional backend software engineering and data processing experience with Python • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and Bash shell scripting • Solid understanding of IP networking, including IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, and routing • Experience building RESTful and concurrent distributed systems • Practical experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django Responsibilities: • Develop backend services that integrate prototype wearable devices into data collection pipelines • Deploy, monitor, and optimize distributed systems that ingest real-time sensor data • Build automated tools for data validation, system health monitoring, and pipeline diagnostics • Troubleshoot issues onsite, perform root cause analysis, and debug networks in a live lab environment • Collaborate with audio/video engineers, technicians, and international research teams Technologies: • Backend • Bash • FastAPI • Flask • Support • Linux • Python • Django • Network More: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support and scale software systems in our Cambridge data collection lab.
