We now serve over 350,000 SMEs, pay more than 3 million employees, and support a growing pool of job seekers finding their next role through our platform. The EH Way At Employment Hero, we’re proud of our unique DNA, which we call The EH Way. • We are Mission First - Our Mission determines what we work on, where we invest, and where we focus. Every decision runs through a single filter: does this accelerate our Mission? • We are Remote First - we champion a remote environment with a preference for asynchronous communication and a high degree of autonomy • We are AI First - we are committed to using AI to accelerate our mission; AI is not just a tool, it’s a fundamental part of how we operate, innovate, and scale • We Live by Our Values - we role model our values 100% of the time • We Expect High Performance - we set a high standard and we’re not satisfied with being average This role As a Solution Architect you’ll be working with Engineering and Product teams and will be instrumental in contributing to the FinOps roadmap. Your key focus areas will be: • Lead solution design across money movement, superannuation clearing and related financial services, including their connections to HR, payroll and external partners. • Provide architectural consultation to engineering and product teams, helping them evaluate options and make informed technical decisions. • Translate business and regulatory requirements into practical designs, balancing reliability, security, scalability, cost and delivery priorities. • Guide the architecture of payment processing, ledger and reconciliation capabilities, drawing on a strong understanding of the financial lifecycle. • Work with payment, banking and financial services partners to assess capabilities and shape effective integration approaches across markets. • Collaborate with Security, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Finance to ensure solutions support applicable obligations and assurance requirements. • Partner with engineering teams throughout delivery, reviewing designs and implementation approaches and contributing hands‑on where it adds value. • Guide service performance and resilience requirements, working with teams to assess how solutions perform in production and support future demand. • Develop clear architecture documentation, communicate recommendations and build business cases for significant technical initiatives. • Coach and mentor engineers, share domain knowledge and contribute reusable patterns and engineering practices across the organisation. Who you are To thrive at Employment Hero, you’ll need to embody The EH Way - operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you’ll also bring • 5+ years designing or operating money-movement systems, such as payments, banking, card issuing, ledgers or payroll disbursement, with responsibility for financial correctness and production outcomes. • Proven experience designing complex systems as a Solutions Architect, Staff or Principal Engineer, or in a comparable senior technical role. • Strong knowledge of payment lifecycles, ledger design and reconciliation, and their implications for reliable financial services. • Experience working with payment, banking or card-issuing partners and designing integrations across payment rails or regions. • A strong software engineering background, with the technical depth to assess implementation choices and work credibly with engineering teams. • A solid understanding of modern cloud architecture, distributed systems, data management and software delivery practices. • Experience delivering in regulated environments, incorporating security, risk and compliance considerations into solution design and delivery. • Experience supporting an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or equivalent financial services licensing application or ongoing obligations. • Strong communication, consultation and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas, negotiate trade‑offs and build agreement across teams. • Existing expertise in superannuation, tax and ATO-related workflows, or a demonstrated ability to develop comparable domain expertise quickly. • Experience with debit card issuing, banking-as-a-service partnerships, card schemes, or international payments (Nice to have). • Familiarity with AML/CTF, PCI DSS, and financial services regulatory frameworks across relevant markets (Nice to have). • Domain knowledge of payroll, superannuation standards and reforms, tax remittances, or supplier payments (Nice to have). • Experience with Ruby/Rails, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and AWS, or comparable technologies (Nice to have). • Experience designing financial services capabilities for AI-enabled or agent-driven workflows in a growing, multi-tenant SaaS business (Nice to have). What we can offer At Employment Hero, we don't just talk about a better way to work.
