Teaching Assistant

• St Margaret’s CEVA Primary School • Address: Bolton Lane, Ipswich, Suffolk IP4 2BT • Salary: £25,185 per annum (pro rata) • Hours: 28.75 hours per week (Monday - Friday 8.30am – 3.15pm), 38 weeks per year • Contract: Fixed Term until end of academic year in the first instance • Reference: 5655. We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and engaging Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive primary school team. This role will involve providing 1 to 1 support for a pupil, as well as contributing to the wider classroom environment. We are looking for someone who is a genuine team player, committed to helping every child thrive. Key responsibilities • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, effective lessons aligned with the primary curriculum • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning, build confidence, and promote progress • Provide tailored support for pupils with SEND, adapting activities to ensure full participation • Assist in implementing teacher-led interventions and strategies to help pupils meet their learning goals • Promote positive behaviour, independence, resilience, and self-esteem • Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials • Monitor pupil engagement and progress, sharing observations with the class teacher • Support pupils during break times, educational visits, and extracurricular activities • Contribute to maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment. Experience Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND or requiring 1 to 1 support, is desirable but not essential. Training and support will be provided.
