Remote E-commerce Operations Specialist - FMCG

About the Role Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing e-commerce business specializing in FMCG products, is looking for a meticulous and proactive Remote E-commerce Operations Specialist to join their team. This position is fully remote, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within South Africa. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of our online store, managing everything from inventory and order fulfillment to customer service and website maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail. Your primary goal will be to optimize the online customer experience and ensure seamless execution of all e-commerce processes. Key Responsibilities • Manage and monitor online order processing from placement to delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Oversee inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to maintain adequate stock for online sales. • Liaise with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure efficient warehousing and shipping operations. • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues related to orders, shipping, and product information promptly and professionally. • Monitor website performance and identify any technical issues, coordinating with the web development team for resolutions. • Assist in managing product listings, ensuring accurate descriptions, pricing, and imagery. • Analyze sales data and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains. • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for e-commerce operations. • Ensure compliance with all relevant e-commerce regulations and company policies. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the online customer journey and operational workflows. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience will be considered. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in e-commerce operations, logistics, or a related role, preferably within the FMCG sector. • Proven experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento) and order management systems (OMS). • Strong understanding of inventory management, warehousing, and fulfillment processes. • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal. • Proficiency in using analytical tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to track and report on operational performance. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a remote setting. • Ability to work independently and proactively to resolve issues. • Familiarity with the FMCG product landscape is a plus. • Must be legally eligible to work remotely in South Africa.
