Job Description

About Us BUILD IT is a full-service general construction company with offices in Mississauga, ON and Calgary, AB. We’ve helped hundreds of world-class brands and businesses build iconic destinations that reflect their vision and purpose — from storefronts that invite customers in, to workplaces that inspire teams to perform, to cultural spaces that truly stand apart. Our team combines strategic thinking, construction expertise, and exceptional execution to bring bold concepts to life with precision and impact. Learn more at www.buildit.ca. The Role As Construction Manager, you’ll direct and coordinate every active BUILD IT site. You’ll report to the Director of Construction and lead our site supervisors, field staff, and trades to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget, and to spec. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll plan and direct construction activity, manage trades, control costs, and build a field team that runs to a consistent standard. What you’ll do • Direct and coordinate all active construction sites, keeping projects on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards. • Lead, supervise, and mentor site supervisors, field staff, and trades. • Build and update construction schedules and milestones with the project management team, and address delays quickly. • Manage construction budgets, track costs, and find savings without compromising quality or safety. • Select, onboard, and manage subcontractors, and coordinate vendors and suppliers for on-time delivery. • Review, price, and track change orders, and make sure approvals are in place before changed work proceeds. • Enforce BUILD IT’s Health & Safety program and COR requirements on every site. • Run regular site visits to inspect, monitor, and document progress. • Make sure site supervisors use Procore consistently to log project information, drawings, and documentation. • Report progress, risks, and changes to the Director of Construction, clients, and the project team. • Resolve site issues and disputes with trades, clients, and suppliers quickly and professionally. What we’re looking for • 8+ years of commercial construction experience, including 3+ years managing multiple sites or leading site supervisors. • Proven track record delivering commercial interior and/or ground-up projects on time and on budget. • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and cost control. • Experience selecting and managing subcontractors and pricing change orders. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. • Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements and site safety programs. • Proficiency in Procore and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation for regular site visits. • Legally authorized to work in Canada. Nice to have • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. • Experience working within a COR-certified safety program. • Experience in retail, hospitality, workspace, or health and wellness fit-outs. Compensation & benefits • Base annual salary range: $100,000–$120,000 per year. • Benefits summary provided during the hiring process. • A work environment where safety always comes first. This posting is for a current vacancy. Our organization uses automated tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) or algorithm-assisted systems, to support the initial review of applications. These tools are used only to assist our recruiters and hiring managers; all hiring decisions include meaningful human involvement and final review. BUILD IT is an equal opportunity employer. We actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
