Job Description

Business Development Manager | IT Consulting Build the market. Win the clients. Own the growth. What if your next business development role gave you more than a sales target? What if you had the opportunity to build an enterprise client portfolio from the ground up, shape your own market presence and turn the relationships you win into long-term business? We’re looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to help accelerate growth across Sydney for an established Australian technology and consulting business backed by a global technology leader. The opportunity Sydney represents a significant growth opportunity, and you’ll play a key role in unlocking its potential. Your focus will be on winning new enterprise clients, developing a pipeline from scratch and building a portfolio you can grow over the long term. You’ll have the autonomy to drive your own business development strategy, backed by an established consulting business with the people, expertise and delivery capability to support the opportunities you create. What you’ll be doing • Hunt for new business: Identify and pursue opportunities across major enterprise and government organisations, using your existing network, targeted outreach, LinkedIn and direct engagement. • Build your own pipeline: Develop a sustainable pipeline of new opportunities across multiple industries, starting with a genuine greenfield territory. • Lead commercial conversations: Engage CIOs, IT leaders and other senior stakeholders to understand their challenges, uncover business needs and identify opportunities to add value. • Sell solutions, not just services: Bring together capabilities across cloud, data and AI, software engineering, cyber security, infrastructure, architecture, business analysis, project delivery, managed services and IT consulting. • Own the sales cycle: Lead opportunities from initial discovery and relationship building through proposals, tenders, negotiations and contract wins. • Grow what you win: Build trusted relationships with your clients, identify emerging needs and expand your portfolio through repeat business and new opportunities. • Work collaboratively: Partner with technical consultants, architects and internal bid, commercial and delivery teams to develop solutions that address your clients’ needs. You’ll ideally bring: • A proven track record in new business development within IT consulting, technology professional services, managed services or IT staff augmentation. • An established network of enterprise-level clients in Sydney, particularly CIOs, IT executives and senior technology decision-makers. • Demonstrated success winning new enterprise accounts and building a sales pipeline from scratch. • Experience selling technology services and solutions rather than purely software products or SaaS subscriptions. • A broad understanding of technology capabilities, including areas such as cloud, data, software development, infrastructure, automation and digital transformation. • The commercial confidence to lead early-stage discovery conversations independently, ask the right questions and recognise where specialist expertise is needed. • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage a complex sales cycle from prospecting through to close. • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with technical and commercial teams. • You don’t need to be a technical specialist. You do need to understand enough about technology to connect business challenges with the right solutions. The business behind you • You’ll be joining an established Australian consulting business with more than three decades of experience helping organisations solve complex business and technology challenges. • With a strong local consulting team and the backing of a global technology organisation, you’ll have access to a broad range of expertise, established delivery capabilities, technical specialists and global resources. Why consider this opportunity? • A genuine greenfield opportunity: Build your own enterprise portfolio rather than inherit an established book of business. • Ownership beyond the initial win: Develop the clients you bring on board into long-term, recurring relationships. • A broad consulting offering: Take a consultative approach across multiple technology capabilities and industries. • Global backing, local relationships: Access the expertise and resources of a global technology network while working closely with an established Australian team. • Uncapped commission: Your earning potential can grow as you build your portfolio and generate sustainable margin. Success takes time, and the strongest results come from developing lasting client relationships. • Room to grow: Develop your enterprise sales capability, pursue increasingly complex opportunities and leverage global resources and training to expand your commercial expertise. Ready to build something of your own? If you have the enterprise relationships, commercial drive and technology services sales experience to turn a greenfield market into a thriving client portfolio, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now for a confidential conversation about the opportunity.
