Role Overview We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Security Engineering to lead the design and development of internal platforms, tools, and automation that help protect sensitive data across the organization. This role is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys building scalable backend systems, working with large-scale data platforms, and partnering with security, privacy, compliance, and engineering teams. You will help improve how the company discovers, reviews, governs, and reduces sensitive data exposure through well-designed software systems and automation. What You Will Do • Design and build internal platforms and tools to support sensitive data discovery, review workflows, access governance, risk tracking, and remediation. • Develop backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and automation workflows that help teams identify, analyze, and reduce sensitive data exposure. • Integrate with large-scale data systems such as object storage, databases, data warehouses, streaming platforms, metadata systems, and production services. • Work closely with security, data platform, and product engineering teams to translate business and risk requirements into practical engineering solutions. • Partner with data owners and platform teams to improve how sensitive data is stored, accessed, transformed, shared, and monitored. Basic Qualifications • Software engineering experience, especially in backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems development. • Good programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Java, Go, Scala, or similar languages. • Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, especially AWS services, IAM concepts, permissions, logging, and access patterns. Type of work model • Hybrid Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
