:\n Established in Canada in 2015, Valsoft has grown to a global portfolio of 118+ companies, acquiring and developing vertical market software companies, enabling each business to deliver the best mission-critical solutions for customers in their respective industries.
A key tenet of Valsoft’s philosophy is to invest in well-established businesses and foster an entrepreneurial environment that molds companies into leaders in their respective industries. Valsoft looks to buy, hold and create value through long-term partnerships with existing management.
\nINVESTMENT APPROACH:\n Unlike private equity and venture capital firms, we are Entrepreneurs who Buy, Enhance and Grow Software Businesses. That’s right; we don’t sell businesses. We form a strategic alliance with existing management teams.
We recognize the dedication and perseverance required to create a firm and place a premium on customers’ and workers’ well-being over short-term goals. \nCULTURE:\n Valsoft is more than just a place to work; we’re a team.
We mean it when we say people are our greatest assets, so investing in them is our number one priority. We create an environment where our employees feel first-day-on-the-job excitement, day after day, creating a culture of high performers and collaboration. We celebrate our milestones, and we’re proud of them.
We Dream Big, Stay Humble and Stay Hungry.
\nPOSITION DESCRIPTION:\n We are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines, model tax and related financial data in Snowflake, integrate external systems through APIs, and develop applications and AI-assisted tools that streamline tax analytics and reporting.
Working closely with Tax and Finance stakeholders, you will translate complex business requirements into clean, well-governed, production-grade data products that support efficient decision-making and reporting. This is a full-time, office-based position in Montreal, Quebec, reporting to the Tax Department.
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\n
•Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver tax and financial data from multiple source systems.\n
•Develop and optimize data models and transformations in Snowflake using dbt, following software engineering best practices for modularity, testing, and documentation.\n
•Build and manage API integrations with internal platforms and third-party systems to automate data exchange for tax workflows.\n
•Leverage AWS services, including S3, Lambda, Glue, and Step Functions, to orchestrate, monitor, and secure data workloads.\n
•Develop internal applications and tools that put curated data in the hands of Tax users, from lightweight web applications to automated reporting solutions.\n
•Apply AI/ML and LLM-based techniques to automate document processing, classification, anomaly detection, and other tax analytics use cases.\n
•Use version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows for code, transformations, and infrastructure changes.\n
•Implement data quality checks, reconciliation controls, and monitoring to ensure the accuracy and reliability of tax-critical datasets.\n
•Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to understand key business requirements related to tax data and translate them into technical solutions; partner with Tax, Finance, and Data Platform teams to prioritize work and deliver iteratively.\n
•Document pipelines, models, and processes while contributing to team standards and knowledge sharing.\nREQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\n
•5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related role.\n
•Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, performance tuning, security, and cost optimization.\n
•Proficiency with dbt for transformation, testing, and documentation of data models.\n
•Proven experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines, including batch and/or streaming workloads.\n
•Working experience with AWS cloud services for data and application workloads.\n
•Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and building system-to-system integrations.\n
•Solid application development skills using technologies such as Python, Node.js, and/or web frameworks to build internal tools and services.\n
•Hands-on experience with AI development, including integrating LLMs or ML models into workflows or building AI-assisted features.\n
•Strong command of Git and collaborative development practices, including branching, code review, and CI/CD.\n
•Advanced SQL and Python skills, with strong data analysis fundamentals.\n
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders, gather and clarify business requirements, and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.\nADDITIONAL/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n
•Finance or tax domain knowledge, including an understanding of financial statements, tax data, compliance reporting, or ERP data such as NetSuite.\n
•Experience with BI and semantic modeling tools.\n
•Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.\n
•Experience working in a multi-entity or M&A-driven environment with heterogeneous source systems.\n
•Knowledge of data governance, security, and privacy practices for sensitive financial data. \nReady to join a collaborative and innovative team where you can make an immediate impact? \n.............................................................................
