Senior Full Stack Developer

Reference: PR000919-RN-1 Psybergate is an IT company that builds bespoke software solutions and provides highly skilled resources to its clients. Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to join their team on a contract role basis in Cape Town . We are looking for a strong full-stack developer with deep experience in C#, .NET and React , combined with practical experience using AI-assisted development tools in production environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle, from solution design and development through to deployment and optimisation, while also contributing to the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices.Duties & Responsibilities What you will be doing: • Design and develop scalable web applications using React and modern front-end technologies. • Develop secure, maintainable and high-performance APIs using C# and .NET 8+ . • Design, develop and optimise PostgreSQL databases. • Develop reusable components, services and libraries. • Apply modern architectural patterns including Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architecture and Microservices where appropriate. • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines. • Deploy and support applications in cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure . • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code principles and deployment automation. • Develop automated tests and contribute to quality engineering practices. • Conduct peer code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and security standards. • Implement application monitoring, logging and performance improvements. • Use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code and Cursor AI as part of the software development lifecycle. • Use AI tools for code generation, refactoring, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, debugging and architectural analysis. • Create and maintain effective prompts and AI-assisted development workflows. • Critically evaluate AI-generated code for security, performance, maintainability and compliance. • Contribute to AI Engineering standards and best practices. • Participate in architecture reviews and technical governance. • Mentor junior and intermediate developers. • Promote AI-enabled development practices across development teams. • Contribute to technical communities, innovation initiatives and continuous improvement. • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade solutions. What we are looking for: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field. • 7+ years' professional software development experience. • 5+ years' experience with C# and .NET. • 5+ years' experience with React. • 3+ years' experience with PostgreSQL. • At least 1 year of practical experience using AI-assisted development tools in production environments. • Strong experience with C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core and REST APIs . • Strong experience with React, TypeScript and JavaScript . • Experience with Entity Framework Core . • Experience with PostgreSQL database design, query optimisation and performance tuning . • Experience with Git, GitHub and Azure DevOps . • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines . • Experience with Docker . • Experience deploying solutions to cloud environments. • Experience with Microsoft Azure will be advantageous. • Experience with Azure services such as App Services, Container Apps, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure OpenAI, Key Vault and Application Insights will be advantageous. • Practical experience with GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot and Claude Code . • Experience using AI for debugging, unit test creation, documentation and software development . • Experience with prompt engineering for software development . • Strong understanding of secure software development practices. • Strong system design and solution architecture skills. • Experience mentoring developers and providing technical guidance. • Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Advantageous: • Experience building AI-native applications . • Experience implementing AI agents . • Experience with AI Agent Frameworks . • Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) . • Experience with AI workflow orchestration . • Experience working within enterprise consulting environments. • Experience within highly regulated industries. • Microsoft Azure, AI Engineering, Cloud or Agile/Scrum certifications.
