Lead Grid Modernization Engineer

About the Role Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead Grid Modernization Engineer to join their fully remote team. Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement strategies for grid modernization, focusing on areas like smart grid technologies, automation, and advanced metering infrastructure. • Lead the technical design and engineering efforts for grid modernization projects, ensuring seamless integration of new systems. • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to define project requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives. • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for their adoption to enhance grid performance and reliability. • Oversee the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets for modernization initiatives. • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence in a remote setting. Requirements • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; PhD is a plus. • 10+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a significant focus on grid modernization and smart grid technologies. • Demonstrated experience in leading complex engineering projects from inception to completion. • Deep understanding of power system operations, control systems, and communication networks. • Proven ability to work effectively and lead teams in a remote , collaborative environment. • Expertise in standards such as IEEE 2030.5, IEC 61850, and relevant cybersecurity protocols.
