Job Summary:
We are looking to hire a Manager / Senior Manager - Business Development & Investor Relations to support the firm's growth through client origination, investor relationship management, and transaction sourcing across Investment Banking and Corporate Finance mandates.
The role will involve developing and maintaining relationships with Promoters, CXOs, Family Offices, HNIs, Private Equity Funds, Venture Capital Funds, Strategic Investors and other institutional investors, while actively identifying and converting opportunities for fundraising, private placements, M&A, structured finance and secondary transactions.
The ideal candidate should have strong relationship-management capabilities combined with a good understanding of financial markets, investment banking products and transaction processes.
Job Responsibilities:
A. Business Development & Origination:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across:
1. Equity Fund Raising
2. Private Equity / Venture Capital
3. Pre-IPO / Private Placements
4. Structured Finance / Debt Raising
5. M&A and Strategic Advisory
6. Secondary Transactions
7. Corporate Finance Advisory
- Develop relationships with Promoters, Founders, CEOs, CFOs and senior management of companies across sectors.
- Generate leads through direct outreach, referrals, industry networks, conferences, intermediaries and existing relationships.
- Understand client requirements and assess potential transaction opportunities.
- Prepare initial opportunity notes, transaction teasers and business summaries for internal evaluation.
- Coordinate with Investors for client meetings, pitches and mandate conversion.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities and ensure systematic follow-up.
- Support preparation of pitch books, presentations, proposals and engagement documentation.
B. Investor Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with:
1. Private Equity Funds
2. Venture Capital Funds
3. Family Offices
4. HNIs / UHNIs
5. Institutional Investors
6. Strategic / Corporate Investors
7. Alternative Investment Funds
8. Other financial investors
- Develop a comprehensive database of investors, including:
1. Investment preferences
2. Sector focus
3. Typical ticket size
4. Investment stage
5. Geography
6. Recent transactions
7. Key decision makers
8. Contact details
- Regularly engage with investors to understand their current investment appetite, sector preferences and deployment priorities.
- Match appropriate investment opportunities with relevant investors.
- Coordinate investor outreach, management meetings, due diligence discussions and transaction processes.
- Maintain regular communication with investors throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Develop long-term relationships rather than transaction-specific investor contacts.
C. Transaction Support & Execution:
- Work closely with transaction support teams on live mandates.
- Support preparation and circulation of:
1. Information Memorandums
2. Teasers
3. Investor presentations
4. Financial summaries
5. Management presentations
6. Transaction updates
- Coordinate with clients, investors, consultants and other advisors.
- Track investor interest, questions, feedback and transaction status.
- Maintain transaction trackers and ensure timely follow-up on action items.
- Assist in due diligence coordination and investor Q&A management.
- Support negotiations and transaction closure under the guidance of senior management.
D. Market Intelligence:
- Track market developments, fundraising activity, pre-IPO opportunities, M&A transactions, private placements and investor activity.
- Monitor sector trends and identify companies that may require capital or strategic advisory.
- Track recent investments made by PE/VC funds, Family Offices and Strategic Investors.
- Maintain databases of comparable transactions and investor activity.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on market opportunities and potential prospects.
E. Relationship Management & CRM:
- Maintain a structured CRM/database covering clients, prospects and investors.
- Categorise relationships based on sector, transaction type, ticket size, relationship strength and business potential.
- Ensure regular engagement with key relationships and maintain a clear record of meetings and discussions.
- Build a strong network of senior-level relationships over time.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Investment Banking and Corporate Finance teams to cross-sell opportunities.
Qualifications and skills:
Education:
- MBA / PGDM in Finance or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Graduation in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business or related discipline.
Experience:
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
1. Investment Banking
2. Merchant Banking
