Job Description
Our client is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer to join their technology team in a hybrid Gauteng-based role. This opportunity is ideal for a developer who can independently deliver quality software solutions while collaborating across product, business analysis, UX/UI, QA and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test and maintain enterprise software applications.
• Independently deliver assigned features, modules and enhancements.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into secure, scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Participate across the full Software Development Lifecycle, from design through deployment.
• Develop reusable components, services and RESTful APIs.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, estimations and solution development.
• Participate in code reviews and technical reviews.
• Support automated testing and continuous integration.
• Troubleshoot defects, production issues and recurring technical problems.
• Perform basic root cause analysis and recommend performance improvements.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
• Contribute to DevOps, engineering automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain technical documentation and knowledge resources.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Graduate and Junior Software Engineers.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years' experience in software engineering within an enterprise development environment.
• Strong experience with C#, .NET and ASP.NET Core.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, Blazor or equivalent.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and integration services.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud-native development.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub or equivalent platforms.
• Sound understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, design patterns and secure development.
• Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, Kanban or SAFe.
• Experience writing unit tests and supporting automated testing practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to mentor junior developers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
Advantageous
• Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900).
• Training or experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot or Claude.
• Experience conducting peer code reviews and contributing to engineering standards.
• Experience applying AI-assisted development to coding, testing, documentation and quality improvements.
