Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year
Requirements:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data architecture, with a strong focus on cloud architecture, data integration, and data modelling.
• Deep understanding of the modern data stack and its components.
• Experience establishing data architecture and data governance, and leading data modelling, database design, data warehousing, master data management, and data governance practices.
• Strong skills in data modelling, ETL processes, and data integration, including experience working with data platform teams.
• Experience securing and protecting sensitive information.
• Experience developing data pipelines to extract, transform, and load engineering platform data for analysis and reporting.
• Experience implementing decentralized data products within a Data Mesh architecture.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, GCP, or AWS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design solutions to complex data challenges.
• Knowledge of conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling; data warehousing; data lakes; Data Mesh; data governance; metadata management; and master data management.
• Ability to lead production-grade data products through their lifecycle, from conceptual modelling to deployment and ongoing optimization.
• Familiarity with the DAMA Data Management Framework (DAMA-DMBOK) and its application to managing data as a strategic asset.
• Advanced knowledge of data modelling tools, data lakes, SQL, and pipeline design.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in the AEC industry, understanding engineering platforms and their integration with engineering systems, and proficiency with Microsoft Fabric are advantageous.
• Relevant cloud technology certifications, such as Data Engineering or Databricks certifications, are a plus. Responsibilities:
• Own and evolve our enterprise data architecture, including data principles, target-state models, and architecture standards across platforms and products.
• Lead architectural design that transforms our data ecosystems into scalable, AI-ready data products that deliver business value and operational excellence.
• Establish, document, and uphold data architecture standards, data modelling guidelines, and best practices across our organization.
• Define and maintain enterprise and domain data models, and shape data products, contracts, and interoperability patterns.
• Guide the use of data platforms, including data warehouses, engineering data warehouses, Microsoft Fabric, and analytics layers.
• Translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure data architectures aligned with our enterprise data strategy.
• Design and implement modern data architectures and integration solutions that connect business systems and data sources and enable seamless data flow.
• Work with data platform teams to develop operating models that support data processing, integrations, reporting, and AI model deployment and execution.
• Design and develop data models that support business processes, analytics, and reporting, ensuring performance and scalability.
• Improve data quality and the accessibility and usability of data assets.
• Establish frameworks for data lineage, cataloguing, and automated observability to support trustworthy and reliable data pipelines.
• Maintain repositories representing data entities, relationships, attributes, information flows, and business glossaries.
• Contribute to architectural governance by reviewing data-related designs, guiding teams, and ensuring alignment with our target architecture.
• Collaborate with data governance teams to embed data quality, security, and compliance, including GDPR, into integration pipelines and architecture.
• Work with business stakeholders, product owners, data scientists, data engineers, subject matter experts, enterprise architects, product architects, developers, and engineers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Engage with technology providers to assess relevant technology roadmaps and evaluate solutions against business goals and our enterprise data strategy.
• Continuously assess and recommend tools and technologies to improve data engineering and processing.
• Support our business areas in using enterprise data to develop insights, enable AI solutions, improve operational efficiency, and identify revenue opportunities. Technologies:
