Production Coordinator / Production Planner
Fergus, Ontario

Our client is seeking an organized and analytical Production Coordinator / Production Planner to support manufacturing schedules, material availability and daily production flow.
This position is suited to someone with previous production-planning or scheduling experience who can coordinate priorities across the shop floor, identify potential delays and ensure customer orders move through manufacturing efficiently and on schedule.
Responsibilities include:
• Prepare and maintain production schedules based on customer requirements, available capacity and operational priorities
• Create, release and monitor manufacturing work orders through the ERP/MRP system
• Coordinate workflow and material movement between fabrication, assembly, quality, inventory and shipping
• Monitor production activity and address scheduling conflicts, material shortages and operational bottlenecks
• Communicate daily priorities and schedule changes to production employees and department leaders
• Expedite time-sensitive orders and provide updates regarding delays or changing delivery requirements
• Maintain accurate Bills of Materials, manufacturing routings, work instructions and production records
• Work with purchasing and supply-chain teams to ensure materials and components are available when required
• Support inventory control for raw materials, work in progress and finished goods
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance to address non-conforming products and production-quality concerns
• Track production results, including output, downtime, labour efficiency, scrap, cycle time and schedule attainment
• Prepare reports covering production performance, capacity, material availability and workflow
• Participate in daily production meetings and provide updates on scheduling requirements and operational constraints
• Coordinate the transfer of completed products into inventory and shipping
• Support cycle counts, inventory audits and material-reconciliation activities
• Assist with new-product launches, engineering changes and production implementation
• Coordinate preventative-maintenance scheduling to reduce production interruptions
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing, waste-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives
• Ensure production activities follow established quality, safety and operational procedures
Qualifications
• Two to five years of experience in production planning, manufacturing scheduling or production coordination
• Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Experience creating and managing production schedules and manufacturing work orders
• Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems
• Understanding of Bills of Materials, production routings and inventory transactions
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust quickly to changing production requirements
• Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and production reporting
• Careful attention to detail and data accuracy
Additional Assets
• Experience in automotive, aerospace, metal fabrication or custom manufacturing
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
• Knowledge of capacity planning and material-requirements planning
• Advanced Excel and data-analysis capabilities
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement principles
• Experience supporting new-product introductions or engineering changes
