We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. We are looking for a Subsea Technical Program Manager with proven experience, strong sense of ownership and passion for defining and driving large cross-functional programs in the infrastructure and networking space. You will have the opportunity to implement new processes and procedures driving continuous improvement while interacting with a broad range of stakeholders across Amazon. At Amazon, we set a high bar, so expect to be challenged on the scope and scale of the problems we tackle. We are moving fast, using the latest technologies, and transforming the way we deliver global connectivity. Key job responsibilities In this position, the candidate will work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to deliver submarine cable projects across the globe. The candidate should be able to represent and lead for Amazon in deployment and operational meetings, coordinate complex projects spanning a number of geographies and deliver the project to our high standards. They should have a deep knowledge of how to construct fiber based networks that span long haul fiber and colocation including the selection and deployment of optical equipment interfacing with submarine cables. Finally, the candidate should be able to ensure that the delivered network is handed over with a suitably validated operational model appropriate to the specific deployment and location. Specific knowledge of submarine telecommunication cable route engineering, cable survey and installation operations including burial are required. A day in the life Our projects are multi year in duration, requiring careful planning, disciplined execution and with a growing program, constant invention and simplification. We work with internal and external stakeholders and partners, driving projects to meet our goals and timelines. We ensure that the delivery of the projects meet our high standards and specifications. When faced with an issue or delay, we invent to solve for the roadblock alerting our customers along the way. Communications are crisp, timely and always advise a path forward. We learn from each other, ensuring global consistency. About the team Diverse Experiences Amazon values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply.
