Our Mission: To help hard-working New Yorkers build better tomorrows Our Vision: Be New York's most loved financial institution by helping our members build their best financial futures Overview: The Senior Accountant is an integral part of the Accounting team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, preparing regulatory reporting, performing investment accounting for credit union’s investments, assisting with the financial budget and planning, general ledger account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, this is a key role in financial reporting, internal controls, analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Participate in the month-end close process, monthly reporting and variance analysis, and quarterly Call Reports. Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts in accordance with MCU policies and procedures and prescribed timelines.

Review and reconcile suspense accounts and monitor closely for aged items. Work with business partners to ensure items are addressed timely and appropriately in accordance with MCU policies and procedures. Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules in accordance with accounting policies.

Working knowledge of ASC 842 (Lease Accounting). Perform accounting functions including general ledger entries and reconciliations
