Associate Director - Technical Accounting / DPP Accounting Location: Bangalore Role Type: Individual Contributor / Leadership Role Supported Geography: US Work Timings: Based on project and deliverable timelines About the Role: We are looking for an Associate Director - Technical Accounting to lead and support complex technical accounting and financial reporting matters for US-based stakeholders. The role will provide technical accounting leadership across IFRS and US GAAP, with responsibility for researching complex accounting matters, developing and reviewing technical accounting guidance, monitoring global standard-setting developments and supporting the resolution of significant financial reporting issues. The Associate Director will work closely with senior accounting professionals, subject matter experts and US-based stakeholders and will be expected to provide high-quality technical insights, challenge existing positions, influence stakeholders and drive complex projects to completion. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and oversee complex technical accounting research and advisory assignments involving IFRS and US GAAP. - Provide technical accounting guidance on complex and judgmental accounting matters. - Draft, review and approve IFRS and US GAAP technical accounting guidance, interpretations, position papers and illustrative examples. - Monitor developments and projects issued by the IASB and FASB and assess their implications for financial reporting and accounting practices. - Lead research and analysis of new accounting standards, amendments and emerging accounting issues. - Review and challenge technical accounting conclusions developed by team members and provide appropriate direction. - Collaborate with senior professionals and US-based accounting teams on complex accounting matters and financial reporting issues. - Support the preparation and review of illustrative financial statements, accounting disclosures and other technical publications. - Lead the development and maintenance of technical accounting knowledge resources and internal guidance. - Present complex technical accounting topics and regulatory developments to senior stakeholders and leadership teams. - Represent the technical accounting function in internal meetings, working groups and external-facing forums such as webcasts and podcasts, where required. - Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted technical accounting advisor. - Identify emerging accounting risks and proactively recommend practical, technically sound solutions. - Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to timelines. - Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to junior and senior team members. - Review team deliverables and ensure consistency, technical accuracy and alignment with applicable accounting standards. - Contribute to process improvement, knowledge management and strategic initiatives within the technical accounting function. Educational Qualification: Candidates should hold one of the following professional qualifications: - CA - CPA - ACCA Active membership is required. Experience Required: - 10+ years of post-qualification experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, financial reporting or a closely related function. - Extensive and recent experience in applying and interpreting IFRS and US GAAP is mandatory. - Strong experience in researching and resolving complex and judgmental accounting matters. - Experience working in a Big 4 National Office, Technical Accounting function, Accounting Advisory practice, Capital Markets Group or similar function is strongly preferred. - Experience advising large, complex or multinational organizations on accounting and financial reporting matters is preferred. - Strong experience with external audits, financial reporting and accounting advisory matters. - Experience dealing with US GAAP / IFRS / IAS / FASB / IASB developments is highly desirable. Technical Accounting Expertise: The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in: - US GAAP - IFRS - Technical accounting research - Financial reporting - Accounting policy and position papers - Complex accounting judgments - IASB and FASB developments - Financial statement presentation and disclosures - Illustrative financial statements - Accounting standard implementation - Technical accounting guidance and publications Technical & Digital Skills: - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. - Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create high-quality presentations for senior leadership. - Working knowledge of: 1. Microsoft Teams 2. SharePoint 3. Digital knowledge-management platforms - Ability to leverage technology and data effectively for research, analysis and reporting. Leadership & Stakeholder Management: - Demonstrated ability to operate effectively with senior leadership, Partners, Directors and US-based stakeholders. - Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. - Ability to challenge accounting positions constructively and provide well-supported recommendations. - Excellent project and program management capabilities. - Ability to manage multiple complex deliverables simultaneously. - Strong upward, downward and cross-functional communication. - Ability to lead meetings, technical discussions and presentations with senior audiences. - Strong negotiation and consensus.
