Job Description

You’re a civil engineering student who’s ready to get your hands on a real engineering project. You perform best in groups where you know what’s expected of you. You’re not afraid to ask questions. You make—and own—your decisions. You want to learn more about the design process, and how a team works together to get projects done. Binnie is looking for an Engineering Assistant to join our Infrastructure Burnaby Division, which provides professional civil engineering services for local municipalities. Typical projects include road and utility improvements and replacements, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control and major residential, commercial and industrial developments. This position is in our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake for the Jan – April 2027 work-term. There may be an opportunity to extend the work term to Aug 2027 depending on project requirements. You will be working with our experienced Project Managers, Designers, and Engineers on interesting drafting, design, and field assignments. You will be a member of our diverse team in a challenging role that offers great mentorship opportunities. YOUR ROLE: • Modifying basic design drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D • Plotting, assembling, and delivering drawing submission packages • Preparing project documentation including hard copy and electronic file transfers • Maintaining file naming and layer management conventions set by Binnie • Completing field assignments as required by Project Managers • Completing quality control procedures • Preparing and updated as-constructed field record drawings WHAT YOU BRING: • Previous work experience in a civil engineering environment • Previous exposure to AutoCAD and Civil 3D • Currently completing Degree in Civil Engineering • Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle for site visits • Willing to work outdoors on-site as required • Ability to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $25 - $27 hourly. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
