Legal Counsel

We are seeking a qualified legal professional to join as our second in-house counsel. This role offers broad exposure to the legal and commercial aspects of a major petrochemical business and provides the opportunity to take ownership of a diverse range of matters from an early stage.

Job Description

Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements. Provide legal support to business functions on day-to-day commercial and operational matters. Assist with corporate secretarial matters, including board and shareholder documentation.

Support compliance initiatives relating to anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, data protection and corporate governance. Assist with the development of internal policies, procedures, legal templates and guidance materials.

Monitor legal and regulatory developments and support implementation of regulatory requirements across the business. Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda and training materials. Work closely with the Legal Manager and provide support on special projects and other legal matters as required.

Requirements

LLB degree from a recognized university with admission to practice law 1-4 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) Strong drafting, negotiation and issue-spotting skills Practical and commercially minded approach to problem solving Eagerness to learn and develop in a broad in-house legal role Experience and knowledge in the following would be an advantage, > Prior in-house legal experience > Corporate Secretarial experience and familiarity with Singapore Companies Act > Experience in the energy, petrochemical, commodities, manufacturing, shipping or logistics sectors.
