About the role | Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga The Building Support Team provides essential administrative support to Council’s Building Services Team. As Team Leader – Building Support, you will lead a team ensuring high-quality customer service, timely responses and consistent administrative practices. Reporting to the Manager Building Services, you will help the division maintain Council’s accreditation as a Building Consent Authority under the Building Act. You will also identify practical opportunities to improve services, compliance and operational efficiency. This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Your focus in this role will include: • Leading, supporting and developing the Building Support Team. • Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching and performance support. • Ensuring the team delivers responsive, customer-focused services. • Managing escalated complaints, VIP requests and complex or sensitive enquiries. • Coordinating initial responses to LGOIMA requests, Privacy Act requests and Councillor enquiries within statutory timeframes. • Identifying and implementing improvements to administrative systems and processes. • Building effective relationships with Council teams, contractors and external agencies. About you | Ngā kōrero mōu You will be a collaborative and practical leader who can build team capability, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards in a regulatory environment. You will communicate confidently with a wide range of people and bring a calm, solutions-focused approach to complex or sensitive matters. What you will bring: • Sound knowledge of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations. • Advanced word processing and administrative skills, with strong attention to accuracy and timeliness. • Strong leadership capability and the ability to foster a positive, collaborative team culture. • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills. • Experience implementing policies, processes or techniques that improve administrative systems and service delivery. • The ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and the wider community. • Highly developed written, telephone and face-to-face communication skills.
