Product Manager - Merchant Onboarding - FinTech/BFSI/Payments - IIM/ISB/IIT/MDI/FMS

About the Role: They are seeking a senior, highly analytical Product Manager Merchant Onboarding with 7-8 years of experience to lead, transform, and scale our merchant enrollment, verification, and activation journeys. In this role, you will own the end-to-end merchant onboarding ecosystemensuring that businesses can integrate with their payment platform instantly, securely, and with zero friction. You will lead cross-functional initiatives across Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Business teams to digitize complex KYC processes, build automated underwriting workflows, and dramatically reduce the "Time to First Transaction" for their merchants. Key Responsibilities: - Define and execute the product roadmap for the entire merchant onboarding lifecycle, including self-service sign-ups, digital KYC/e-KYC, risk underwriting, and account activation. - Identify bottlenecks in the current merchant onboarding funnel. Design automated, instant-verification workflows using OCR, AI/ML tools, and third-party API integrations (DigiLocker, GSTN, PAN, MCA) to minimize manual intervention. - Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to translate complex RBI guidelines, PCI-DSS standards, and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations into seamless, digitized product features. - Own the post-signup merchant dashboard experience. Ensure merchants have a highly intuitive interface to track their onboarding status, submit documentation, and access integration keys smoothly. - Define, monitor, and optimize key metrics such as Onboarding Drop-off Rates, Drop-to-Activation Funnel, KYC Rejection Rates, and Time to Active Merchant. Conduct rigorous A/B testing on onboarding forms and flows. Required Qualifications: - Experience: 7-8 years of overall experience, with at least 4+ years of core Product Management experience deeply embedded in Merchant Onboarding, Digital KYC systems, Risk Engine products, or Merchant Lifecycle Management within FinTech, Payment Aggregation, or Banking. - Education: MBA from an IIM / Tier-1 Graduate Business School paired with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology (BE/BTech) is highly preferred. - Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of digital payments, payment gateway operations, regulatory compliances (RBI, PCI-DSS), and corporate/individual KYC frameworks in India. - Technical Deep-Dive: Hands-on experience defining APIs, managing third-party validation partner integrations, and utilizing advanced product analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics). - Leadership & Stakeholder Skills: Proven track record of managing senior stakeholders across complex organizational functions (Risk, Operations, Legal, and Engineering) to ship high-impact products.
