Full Stack Engineer: React | Next.js | Node.js | Java | Python | AWS Location: Sydney, NSW Experience: 7 - 12 Years Job Type: Permanent / Fixed Term About the Role We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join our team in Sydney on a permanent or fixed-term basis. This role suits a hands-on senior engineer who is equally comfortable across the front end and back end, and who can operate confidently in a cloud-native, Agile delivery environment. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, building and maintaining scalable web applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks alongside Java and Python services, deployed on AWS. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using React.js and Next.js on the front end, and Java and Python on the back end. • Build and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. • Contribute to architecture and design decisions across the front-end and back-end stack. • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code using TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. • Develop and maintain automated test suites using frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, or Cypress. • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, reliable releases. • Deploy, monitor, and optimise applications on AWS cloud infrastructure. • Participate fully in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and QA. • Use Git/GitHub for source control, code review, and collaborative development. • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues across the stack. • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and code quality standards. Required Skills & Experience • 7 - 12 years of professional software engineering experience in a full-stack capacity. • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Python. • Strong hands-on experience with React.js and Next.js. • Solid command of TypeScript / JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. • Proven experience designing and building REST APIs. • Practical experience with Git/GitHub in a collaborative development environment. • Experience working within Agile delivery practices (Scrum/Kanban). • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. • Experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, Cypress, or similar. • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a team. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Desirable • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK). • Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). • Prior experience in a senior or lead engineering capacity. • Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
