Electrical Engineer (Building Services) Cambridge A well-established practice of Building Services Consultant Engineers is looking to add an Electrical Engineer to its team in Cambridge. We are looking for Electrical Engineers with a minimum of two years experience and up to 10 years of experience who are looking for a new challange and to join a firm known for the quality and reliability of its service. The Role Working across a broad and varied project portfolio, you'll take on Mechanical and Electrical Building Services design from initial concept through to completion on site, with exposure to specialist and technically demanding work including laboratories, research facilities, pharmaceutical and healthcare buildings, educational establishments, and the sensitive renovation of historic buildings. Key responsibilities will include: • Producing electrical designs and specifications across a range of building types and sectors • Supporting projects from design inception through to on-site completion • Working on specialist and technically complex projects, including labs, research establishments and heritage buildings • Liaising directly with clients to provide sound, professional technical advice • Keeping up to date with technical developments and industry best practice • Working collaboratively within an experienced, supportive team About You The ideal candidate will have: • A minimum of 2 years' and up to around 10 years' experience in electrical building services design • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification • Strong technical design ability across M&E building services • An interest in developing towards Chartered/Professional status • Good client-facing communication skills • The ability to work well independently and as part of a close-knit team About the Company This is a long-established Building Services Consultancy that has built a strong reputation for quality and reliability over many years. Originally focused on local authority work, the practice has since grown to cover a wide range of building types, developing particular strength in pharmaceutical, healthcare and educational projects, as well as sensitive work on historic buildings where a considered approach to services design is essential. The team draws on a broad mix of academic and practical backgrounds, giving the practice particular expertise in laboratories, research establishments and other specialist engineering projects. Growth has been carefully managed to protect stability and service quality, and many staff have been with the company for a long time — a testament to the working environment and culture on offer. The company places a strong emphasis on staying current with technical developments, with Directors actively involved in professional institutions and staff encouraged and supported to build their academic knowledge and work towards professional accreditation.
