Senior Software Engineer, New Products

Salary: £45,000 - 70,000 per year Requirements: • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a deep foundation in backend architecture and the ability to flex full-stack when needed • Experience shipping products from scratch in high-growth startups, corporate innovation labs, or fast-paced greenfield environments • Strong product and commercial intuition, with the ability to challenge assumptions and evaluate technical decisions through a business lens • Pragmatic and resourceful approach with a strong get-things-done mindset • High tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to translate executive visions into clean, maintainable software • Familiarity or hands-on experience building software that leverages Generative AI, LLMs, or intelligent workflow automation is preferred • Experience in fintech, payments, or working with compliance and money-movement rails is preferred • Prior experience as a startup founder, founding engineer, or technical lead of a rapid-prototyping team is preferred Responsibilities: • Co-author 0-to-1 products by partnering directly with the CEO and global leadership to turn strategic visions and AI capabilities into market-ready financial software • Embody a product engineer mindset by synthesizing business requirements, regulatory realities, and cutting-edge technology to shape product scope and roadmap • Execute with velocity by running rapid proofs of concept, deploying them to live users, and balancing rapid iteration with structural soundness • Deliver end-to-end solutions across the full stack, from API design to frontend polish, to get products into the hands of global users Technologies: • AI • API • Backend • Embedded • Frontend • Rails • Architect • Network • Product Manager • Salesforce More: We are Airwallex, a unified payments and financial platform for global businesses, serving more than 250,000 businesses worldwide with integrated solutions for business accounts, payments, spend management, treasury, and embedded finance. The role offers total compensation of GBP 140,000 to 200,000, with base salary, equity, and bonus potential.
