Mechanical Engineer Conveyor Systems

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, analysis, and implementation of conveyor systems for mining, manufacturing, warehousing, and bulk material handling applications. Typical responsibilities in similar roles include conveyor system design, engineering calculations, equipment selection, drawing production, project execution, and commissioning support. Key Responsibilities • Design and develop belt, roller, chain, and bulk material handling conveyor systems. • Prepare engineering calculations, layouts, detailed drawings, and technical specifications. • Perform load, stress, power, and capacity calculations for conveyor equipment. • Select mechanical components including drives, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, idlers, and structural supports. • Develop 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software. • Liaise with clients, suppliers, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and industry standards. • Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. • Participate in site inspections, audits, and project meetings. • Identify opportunities for design improvements and cost optimization. Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. • Registered or eligible for registration with a professional engineering body. • Minimum 3–8 years' experience in conveyor systems, material handling, or mining engineering projects. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software. • Strong knowledge of conveyor design principles, materials handling equipment, and mechanical engineering fundamentals. • Experience with project execution, commissioning, and site support. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites when required Please send your cv to rusteyn@networkrecruitment.co.za
