API Developer (12 month contract)

Introduction We are looking for a skilled API Developer to join our core engineering team and be diployed to one of our valued clients within the FinTech space. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain high-performance APIs while ensuring smooth front-end integration using Angular and JavaScript. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable financial tech solutions. Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities • API Architecture: Design, build, and deploy secure, high-throughput RESTful and GraphQL APIs. • Front-End Integration: Collaborate with front-end engineers to seamlessly integrate APIs into Angular applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript practices. • Performance & Security: Optimize API response times, manage rate limiting, and implement secure authorization (OAuth2, JWT, TLS). • System Monitoring: Maintain, debug, and upgrade existing API services and microservices architecture. • Technical Documentation: Author clear OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and integration guidelines for internal and external developers. Desired Experience & Qualification Key Requirements • Core Tech Stack: Strong hands-on experience with modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and Node.js. • Angular Proficiency: solid understanding of Angular fundamentals (RxJS, State Management, HTTP Client) to bridge the back-end and front-end seamlessly. • API Expertise: Proven background in RESTful design principles, microservices, and web security standards. • Database Skills: Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases. • Testing & Tools: Familiarity with Postman, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and automated API testing. Formal Education • Bachelor’s Degree: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience). Professional Certifications (Advantageous) • Cloud & Architecture: AWS Certified Developer / Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, or Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer. • Fintech & Security: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), PCI-DSS Compliance Training, or Open Banking Developer Certification. • Agile & Process: Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or SAFe Practitioner. Proven Work Experience • 3+ years in dedicated API design, development, and integration. • Demonstrated history of shipping production-grade applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and Angular . • A track record of working with financial protocols, banking APIs, or payment processors (if applying Fintech-specific criteria).
