The Purchasing Intern provides general support to the Purchasing department by assisting with tasks, assignments, and projects relating to Purchasing functions. Provides general support to the Purchasing department by assisting with tasks, assignments, and projects relating to Purchasing functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Shadow Purchasing Agents on negotiating process and rebate agreements for major vendors/contractors. • Assist Purchasing Agents to establish pricing and costs to be used by the Estimating Department. • Compare and evaluate market for new, potential contractors/vendors. • Review bids to ensure accuracy. · Complete special projects as requested. Job Competencies • Initiative • Attention to Detail • Time Management • Organizational Skills • Communication/Building Relationships Requirements • High School Diploma and current enrollment in University required. • Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. What can you expect? • You must be able to work at least 40 hours a week.
