Principal BIM Technician

Description WSP utilities team work on a range of high-profile projects across multiple sectors. Our clients frequently required BIM deliverables to ensure a coordinated design that has been clash checked with both Infrastructure and Building deliverables. The Principal Civil 3D BIM/Technician is key to ensuring that our deliverables meet client requirements and that we can demonstrate that our designs have been adequately coordinated and clash checked in 3 dimensions. Responsibilities • Provide design and drafting support for civil engineering projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables. • Develop and model gravity and pressure networks for master planning, transportation, and highway projects. • Prepare and detail Right-of-Way (ROW) cross-sections for all utilities. • Use Autodesk Civil 3D extensively for utility design, modelling, and documentation. • Build and maintain Civil 3D catalogues and libraries to streamline workflows and support efficient design delivery. • Export models to Navisworks, Revit, and other platforms for multidisciplinary coordination. • Perform clash detection and resolution using appropriate BIM tools, identifying conflicts and coordinating with relevant disciplines in a timely and organized manner. • Deliver coordinated, clash-checked design packages on time and within budget. • Produce design documentation, drawings, and technical reports in line with project requirements and deadlines. • Support continuous improvement by developing standard BIM workflows, libraries, and best practices to enhance team efficiency. Qualifications Mandatory skills • Diploma / BEng equivalent discipline with minimum 10 years experience • Extensive experience in Civil 3D • Extensive experience in clash check software packages • Extensive experience of interfacing with Revit and other building design packages • Modelling of gravity and pressure networks • Drawing production for detailed design of engineering Packages • Awareness of CAD Software Auto CAD, Civil 3D. • Coordinating his/her work with other members of the CAD team. • Work competently with minimal supervision. • Good English communication skills will also be preferred.
