Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Principal Electrical Engineer to join the Egis Transport Design Team. The ideal candidate will have experience in rail station electrical services design and coordination. As Principal Electrical Engineer you will be a senior member of the team and will be required to support the Associate Director, who leads the MEPHFC team. You will lead and manage other engineers and be responsible for the delivery of electrical designs. We are looking for someone who’s dedicated, diligent, and driven, and will take this challenge head on, being an important part of a dynamic team with big ambitions. Key Responsibilities: • Lead, manage, and support a team of electrical engineers, ensuring effective allocation of workload and time management. • Mentor and develop junior and mid‑level engineers, helping to build the team’s technical capability. • Foster a “get it right first time” culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. • Represent the electrical discipline in client and project meetings, promoting collaborative working relationships. • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, internal teams, and project stakeholders (technical and non‑technical). • Lead the full lifecycle of electrical design, from feasibility through to detailed design, construction support, and As‑Built documentation. • Oversee the production of design markups, drawings, specifications, and schedules, ensuring alignment with standards, client requirements, and industry best practice. • Undertake and approve detailed engineering calculations and electrical system design (e.g., lighting, LV, containment, transformer sizing, small power, schematics). • Carry out technical reviews and ensure designs comply with statutory, regulatory, and project‑specific requirements. • Manage and review specialist supplier and subcontractor technical submissions for compliance and coordination. • Support testing, commissioning, and certification processes where required. • Lead design assurance activities, including structured design reviews and technical governance processes. • Act as a key participant in coordination sessions, technical workshops, and multidisciplinary design interfaces. • Ensure effective integration of electrical systems within a BIM‑driven environment. • Produce clear progress reports and communicate project status, risks, and issues effectively
