Job Description
Our client is a veteran-owned and led ICT consultancy that has grown to around 200 people since it was founded in 2015.
Operating predominantly in federal government, the business delivers testing and evaluation, project delivery, technical services and cybersecurity capability.
The Opportunity
Join an award-winning organisation, where you will be brought in to take ownership of a business-critical function and use your expertise to bring best practice, in a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity leave cover).
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will have the opportunity to:
• Play a part in helping the business improve and document its finance and payroll processes
• Work in a complex payroll environment with a mix of full-time, PAYG and subcontractor employees on a fortnightly and monthly schedule
• Be part of an active social team, with the organisation putting on regular team and family-friendly events which have included family movie nights and Christmas celebrations
• Enjoy newly renovated offices close to shops and public transport This opportunity could be a fulltime or part-time (4 days / week) position.
The Role
Day to day, the role covers the full payroll and transactional finance function, from timesheets through to reconciliations and reporting.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing end-to-end payroll processing, including resolving payroll queries and maintaining employee details
• Overseeing timesheet management, reviewing and actioning complex timesheet data drawn from multiple sources
• Running accounts payable, including subcontractor invoices (RCTIs), supplier bills, staff reimbursements and payment runs
• Managing accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, ad hoc billing and following up outstanding accounts
• Handling onboarding, offboarding and ongoing maintenance of employee records
• Completing banking and reconciliation tasks, and support month-end, quarter-end and annual reporting
• Overseeing an offshore timesheet data analyst, and identify opportunities to improve payroll, timesheet and finance processes The Ideal Person
You've got deep payroll experience, and you're looking for a role that still allows you to be hands-on in the day-to-day but also lets you contribute to shaping the function moving forward.
You're comfortable working in a complex, high-stakes payroll environment, and confident to raise and proactively lead process improvements.
You will bring the following skills and experience:
• A minimum of 7-10 years hands-on experience in payroll
• Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Experience operating within a complex, business-critical payroll environment
• A mature approach, strong communication skills, and a genuine understanding of people
• Due to the nature of the work, Australian citizenship is required to be considered for this role Salary / Rate
• $100k – $130k + Super
