Job Description
This is a genuinely design-led role within a studio respected for delivering high-quality, environmentally conscious buildings—especially where complexity demands both creative clarity and technical confidence. You’ll step into a high-rise residential project with a strong mixed-use edge, shaping work that moves from concept through planning and design development. With a culture that encourages research, iteration and innovation, this position matters: your ability to develop design intent, translate it into submissions, and communicate it clearly will directly influence outcomes for major projects. If you’re a confident designer looking for portfolio-building ownership, collaborative momentum, and a team that takes design craft seriously, this is a move worth making.
Key responsibilities
• Collaborate on high-rise residential design development, developing concepts into clear, workable proposals through planning and design development
• Technical delivery of planning and design-development packages, ensuring design intent is accurately represented across drawings, schedules and detail sets
• Produce and refine client-ready presentation material, including graphic communication and visualisation support to support approvals and stakeholder conversations
• Maintain high design quality, contributing to massing, spatial planning, façade logic and detail coordination while keeping work buildable and coherent
• Collaborate confidently across multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating with consultants and internal technical leads to keep momentum and alignment
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, presenting design reasoning clearly and responding professionally to feedback and design evolution
• Help shape a positive studio culture, contributing ideas, questioning assumptions and supporting continuous improvement in how the team works
Skills and Experience
• 5–10 years’ experience within a recognised architecture or design practice
• Strong design capability, with proven experience taking projects from concept through to planning and design development
• Demonstrable experience on medium to large-scale projects, with an ability to manage complexity and coordinate outputs
• Excellent presentation skills, including graphic communication, visualisation support and client-facing material
• Working knowledge of ArchiCAD (desirable but not essential)
• Confident communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to explain and defend design decisions
• Collaborative, positive working style, comfortable in multidisciplinary teams and committed to design excellence
Benefits and culture
• Hybrid working for flexibility, while maintaining strong studio collaboration when it counts
• Portfolio-defining project exposure, including prominent housing and mixed-use work in a high-rise context
• Design-led studio culture that values research, innovation and thoughtful iteration
• Real career progression through responsibility, with opportunities to grow your influence as you build experience
• Team support and social momentum, with a shared passion for architecture and the built environment
