Machine Learning Engineer (Intermediate / Senior)

Our client is seeking a passionate Machine Learning Engineer to join its growing AI team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys building production-ready AI solutions, deploying scalable machine learning systems and working with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The position is fully remote within South Africa and is offered on a 12-month contract with strong potential for permanent employment. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop and deploy production-grade machine learning solutions. • Build and maintain scalable ML platforms, data pipelines and AI infrastructure. • Develop AI-powered applications, APIs and intelligent automation solutions. • Implement MLOps best practices, including CI/CD, monitoring and model deployment. • Collaborate with data scientists, BI specialists, DevOps engineers and software developers. • Optimise model performance and support end-to-end AI solution delivery. • Contribute to AI platform development and continuous innovation. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or a related field. • Intermediate or Senior experience in Machine Learning Engineering. • Strong Python and SQL development skills. • Hands-on AWS experience is essential. • Experience with the complete machine learning lifecycle, including training, deployment, monitoring and optimisation. • Knowledge of scalable ML infrastructure and AI application development. • Strong software engineering principles and clean coding practices. • Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders. Advantageous • AWS certifications. • Experience with AWS Bedrock or Bedrock AgentCore. • Open-source, startup or product development experience. • Master's or PhD in AI, Machine Learning or a related discipline.
