Executive Hiring is looking for a Head - Modern Trade for an FMCG, based in Bangalore. Candidate Profile: Post Grad / MBA in Marketing with 10 - 12 years of work exp in Sales across channels of which at least 3-4 years in Modern Trade managing the Large and Premium Accounts by managing a large team. Role Overview: As the Head of Modern Trade, you will spearhead the strategic expansion and operational excellence of our retail footprint across India. You will be responsible for defining the long-term vision for our Modern Trade channel, managing high-stakes relationships with national and regional retail chains, and driving category growth through data-backed insights. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Marketing, and Finance, you will ensure seamless execution of trade promotions and shelf-space dominance. Your leadership will directly influence our market share, revenue trajectory, and brand positioning, ensuring we remain the preferred partner for key retail accounts in a highly competitive landscape. This role is based in Bangalore and requires a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Key Responsibilities: - Formulate and execute the annual Modern Trade strategy to achieve aggressive revenue targets and expand our presence in top-tier retail chains. - Lead high-level negotiations with key account buyers to secure optimal shelf space, promotional slots, and favorable trade terms that maximize profitability. - Drive category management initiatives by analyzing consumer purchase patterns and retail data to optimize product assortment and inventory turnover. - Mentor and manage a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence to ensure consistent execution at the store level. - Collaborate with the supply chain and logistics departments to ensure high service levels and minimize stock-outs across all retail partners. - Monitor competitive activities and market trends to proactively adjust pricing and promotional strategies, maintaining our competitive edge. Required Skillset: - Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale Modern Trade operations with a proven track record of scaling revenue in the FMCG or consumer goods sector. - Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and key decision-makers at major retail chains. - Strong analytical acumen to interpret complex sales data and translate it into actionable business strategies that drive category growth. - Proven leadership capabilities, including the ability to build, coach, and inspire diverse teams to deliver consistent results in a high-pressure environment. - Excellent communication skills, enabling you to articulate brand vision and strategy clearly to both internal leadership and external retail partners. - A postgraduate degree in Management from a premier business school is preferred, reflecting a strong foundation in business strategy and operations. - Ability to thrive in an on-site work environment in Bangalore, maintaining a hands-on approach to market visits and retail operations.
